Twitter is one of the biggest GIF-sharing platforms on the internet — but there's a catch most people don't know: Twitter converts every uploaded GIF to MP4 internally for faster loading. That's why "saving the GIF" from other tools usually gets you a video file that won't animate in image viewers.

This tool fixes that. It detects GIF tweets and gives you two honest options:

• Download GIF — we convert the MP4 back into a real animated .gif on our server (up to 480 px wide, smooth 14 fps). It works everywhere a GIF works: image viewers, forums, editors.
• MP4 (smaller file) — the exact file X serves, much smaller, ideal for chat apps that auto-loop short videos.

1. Find the GIF tweet on Twitter or X.com.
2. Copy the tweet URL.
3. Paste it above, click Download, and pick GIF or MP4.
